Commercial Lighting Retrofit

  • ‐ 50% of fixture and lamp material cost or;
  • ‐ Per project caps as outlined in individual product requirement sections below

  • Incentives apply to permanent lighting installations at any commercial location 
  • LED‐to‐LED retrofits do not qualify 
  • LED message/sign boards do not qualify 
  • Due to evolving LED technology, member system personnel should contact their relationship manager to determine any unknown lighting product categories

  • Attachments: ‐ Itemized receipt ‐ Product model number or specification sheets clearly indicating respective product requirements    
  • There are two application forms for Commercial LED lighting:   
  • Commercial LED Lighting New Construction ‐
  • Commercial LED Lighting Retrofit 
  • Each application is divided into LED Lighting Rebate Type Sections ‐ LED Lamps Only ‐ LED Fixtures ‐ Grow Lights   ‐ Exit Signs and Occupancy Sensors ‐ Refrigerated Case Lighting ‐ Pole Mounted Lighting 
  • Applications will be reviewed after project is completed and product verification will be based on the as‐built information provided. Final incentive calculations are subject to this review

  • General Information  No authorization is required from Tri‐State prior to the submittal for the Project  
  • Any questions regarding the suitability of materials proposed to receive incentives should be submitted to Tri‐State for a written response prior to the start of construction  
  • Per project cap of $20,000, unless approval is received by Tri‐State prior to application submittal  
  • A project is considered to apply to all fixtures and lamps contained in the application, with the exception of pole mounted lighting and refrigerated case lighting, which have their own project caps defined below 
  • Retrofit is defined as Lighting changes that do not require moving or adding to the existing electrical junction box locations.  Lighting that requires new or relocated junction boxes is considered new construction

  • LED Lamps Only - Product Requirements  
  • High Output (HO) lamps must be defined as such in the lamp model number and/or specifications  
  • Type C lamps must be defined as such in the lamp model number and/or specifications  
  • All lamps must be a minimum of 500 lumens to qualify  
  • Specification sheets and lamp information such as make and model number should be provided by the contractor or consumer

  • LED Fixtures - Product Requirements  
  • Items submitted under fixtures must be a complete fixture replacement OR,  
  • Fixtures purchased without lamps do not qualify; lamps should be submitted under LED lamps  
  • Specification sheets and fixture information such as make and model number should be provided by the contractor or consumer  
  • Member system personnel should contact Tri‐State staff to determine any unknown lighting product categories  
  • All fixtures must be a minimum of 500 lumens to qualify  
  • Retrofit kits are required to include a reflector to be eligible for fixture rebate and should be submitted under the appropriate fixture type  
  • Retrofit kits without a reflector can be submitted as a lamp‐only replacement

  • Exit Signs and Occupancy Sensors - Product Requirements  
  • Exit Signs must be hard wired
